Patrons escape fire at Plantation House Restaurant in Kapalua

Diners and employees in the Plantation House Restaurant in Kapalua escaped without injury after fire broke out in the Plantation House Restaurant at about 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Arriving fire crews found a section of the roof at the Plantation Golf Course clubhouse and attic on fire.

Firefighters battled the fire until about 10:30 before bringing it under control and remained on scene until 1 a.m.

The restaurant was still open for business when the fire broke out.

Damage is estimated at $500,000 to the structure and $!00,000 to the contents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
