Sebastian Zietz took second in his heat today at Bells Beach in Australia.

Hawaii surfers Sebastian Zietz and Dusty Payne advanced to the second round of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach today in Victoria, Australia.
Zietz took second to Australia’s Mick Fanning in his heat, putting up a two-wave score of 12.34 to Fanning’s 14.83.
Payne’s score of 14.20 was second to Australia’s Josh Kerr (15.06).
Australian Joel Parkinson, the ASP World Tour’s defending champ, won his heat as did 11-time winner Kelly Slater of Florida.
Joel Parkinson has won this event three times (2004, 2009, 2011).
"Bells is a comfortable place for me," Parkinson said. "It has so much history and I’ve been surfing the waves, Rincon and the Bowl and Winki, my whole life."
Hawaii’s John John Florence injured his ankle during the expression session of the Quiksilver Pro two weeks ago and is not competing.
