UC Irvine hands Hawaii its third straight loss
Dominque Taylor hit a two-run homer and Chris Rabago had three hits for UC Irvine in its second consecutive 4-1 victory over Hawaii on Saturday at Anteater Ballpark in Irvine, Calif.
Matt Whitehouse (3-2) allowed two hits over 7 2/3 innings to earn the victory for the Anteaters (19-8, 2-3 Big West).
Pi’ikea Kitamura had two hits and drove in LJ Brewster in the eighth inning for the only run scored by the Rainbows (7-20, 2-3).
Hawaii has been held to three hits in each of the first two games of the series.
Corey MacDonald (3-3) allowed all four runs – three earned — in 6 2/3 innings with one walk and five strikeouts to take the loss.
Race Parmenter pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his second save of the series and sixth overall this season.
