Cal Poly hands Hawaii another loss

Nick Torres hit a three-run homer in the first inning and Cal Poly handed Hawaii an 8-3 loss on Friday in the first game of a Big West series at Baggett Stadium in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Connor Little (1-5) allowed six runs on seven hits in six innings with one walk and five strikeouts to take the loss for Hawaii (7-23, 2-5), which has dropped six in a row.

The Rainbows are 1-9 away from home this year.

Pi’ikea Kitamura hit a two-run single and Kaeo Aliviado had two hits and scored a run for the Rainbows.

Joey Wagman (7-2) pitched his second complete game of the season, allowing eight hits and one earned run with no walks and eight strikeouts for the Mustangs (23-8, 5-2).

The series continues on Saturday at 3 p.m.
