2 isle high schools chosen in Vans design contest
Two local high schools are among the top 50 regional winners vying for the grand prize in the Vans Custom Culture Competition, a nationwide contest to support the arts.
Students were invited to customize four classic Vans styles to win a grand prize of $50,000 for their school’s art programs.
The public can show their support for students from Moanalua and Lutheran high schools by voting online for their favorite designs at www.vans.com/customculture/vote.
The top five schools from the online vote will be invited to showcase their designs for judges in New York City on June 13, when the grand prize winner will be announced.
The schools were selected from more than 1,400 schools entered. This marks the fourth year Moanalua High School has been selected as a regional winner. In 2011 the school made the top five and traveled to New York. This year their collection is themed "Circus."
Lutheran students focused on Hawaiiana.
Online voting is limited to one vote per registered site user. Voting ends one second before 6 a.m. May 13.
