Hiker seriously injured landing on rocks in Kalihi Valley
Paramedics took a 26-year-old man in serious condition to the hospital Sunday after he fell or jumped from a waterfall at the end of a Kalihi Valley trail.
The incident happened around 8:20 a.m. Sunday morning at Naohia Falls, also known as Ice Pond.
The Honolulu Fire Department said the victim tumbled down the falls and lost consciousness. His two friends pulled him out of the water and performed CPR.
The fire department’s helicopter flew the victim to Likelike Highway where an ambulance then transferred him to the hospital.
Kalihi Ice Ponds are a set of three-tiered waterfalls and pools located in the back of Kalihi Valley on private land.
