Road repairs back up traffic on H-1 freeway

Motorists heading towards town on the H-1 freeway between the Waiawa Road overpass and the Pearlridge/Waimalu offramp experienced heavy traffic from about 10 a.m. until after 2 p.m. because of road repairs.
The two left lanes in that stretch of freeway were closed for road repairs, part of an on-going project.
Cars were still backed up at about 2 p.m. as crews finished their work, but transportation officials expected the backlog to eventually clear.
