Martin & MacArthur, known in the islands for furnishings and accessories of koa wood, has now branched out to introduce its first line of leather handbags and small leather accessories with solid koa hardware.

The line will be available first at the Martin & MacArthur flagship store at Ala Moana Center on Wednesday, in time for Mother’s Day shopping. The collection will roll out to all 11 Martin & MacArthur stores in the following weeks.

The accessories are made in Hawaii by craftsmen working out of the company’s furniture workshop in Kalihi.

The koa-leather collection includes a solid koa clutch, available in June, as well as a cross-body messenger bag in addition to such handbag essentials as women’s wallets, a key purse, coin purse and key fobs, with prices starting at $49 for the fob, to $219 for a large wallet.

Each item bears a koa serial number tag inside. Customers are encouraged to register the item and serial numbers.
