The largest airport expansion effort in Hawaii’s history begins Thursday, May 2 at Honolulu Airport. The four-year construction project will add two new concourses, adding more space to handle passenger traffic during the typical 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. rush, officials say. It will also add a large, consolidated facility for all the airport’s rental car companies. This portion will reduce the airport’s available public parking by 1,000 spaces during construction. Cosmetic changes separate from the expansion are also underway at HNL’s main terminal.
