Rainbows rally to win road opener at Pacific
Hawaii took advantage of two Pacific errors to score three runs in the top of the ninth inning to pull out a 5-2 victory on Friday night at Klein Family Field in Stockton, Calif.
Kaeo Aliviado and Marc Flores each had three hits and Stephen Ventimilia hit a two-run double to tie the game at 2-2 in the seventh.
Hawaii (10-29, 5-11 Big West) had runners on first at second with nobody out in the ninth when reliever Bryce Lombardi fielded a Kalei Hanawahine bunt and threw the ball into left field trying for the force at third, allowing two runs to score.
Pi’ikea Kitamura added an RBI single to push the lead to 5-2.
Lawrence Chew (2-1) pitched the final 2 1/3 innings to earn the win, allowing one hit and striking out one.
Senior Connor Little allowed two runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings. Lombardi (0-2) took the loss for the Tigers (10-30, 3-12).
