Baxter sweeps SUP events
Maui’s Connor Baxter won both the sprint and long-distance races to win the overall title at last weekend’s Stand Up World Series off Ubatuba, Brazil.
Baxter maintained his lead in the world standings, with Maui’s Kai Lenny staying at No. 2. Lenny finished second to Baxter in both the sprint and the two-lap distance events.
Haleiwa’s Mo Freitas finished third in the sprint and fourth in the distance for a third-place overall finish. Other Hawaii competitors who finished in the top 10 were Zane Schweitzer, Kody Kerbox and Noa Ginella.
Hawaii dominates the current world rankings with Baxter No. 1 and Lenny No. 2. They are followed by Schweitzer (No. 3), Freitas (No. 8), Kerbox (No. 9), Ridge Lenny (No. 10) and Ginella (No. 15).
