Maui police are looking for two men who allegedly attacked a 52-year-old man, struck him on the head with a rock and shot out the rear window of his car with a shotgun on a street in Wailuku.

The incident occurred after 9 a.m. Saturday at North Market Street and Piihana Road. Police have opened an attempted murder investigation.

The victim told police that he drove a 36-year-old woman to the Piihana housing complex where two men got out of a black truck and began yelling at him.

The 52-year-old Kahului man drove off down Piihana Road, into the Piihana Farms to get away and was followed by the two men who blocked his vehicle. The victim’s female passenger then left the car and got into truck with the two men.

The two suspects at that point left their truck and approached the victim’s car, police said.

One of the suspects grabbed a large rock and smashed side window of the victim’s car, then struck the victim on the head with the rock. The second suspect used a shotgun and shot out one the victim’s rear windows.

The victim fled the scene and drove home where a relative took him to the hospital. He was treated for a 6 inch cut on his left forehead and was released from the hospital.

The female passenger later was taken to Wailuku Hospital, treated for drug overdose and remains in guarded condition, police said. She said that the two men also stole her bag.
