Man released, not charged in baby’s death
Police released without charges Friday a 36-year-old Waipahu man who was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of second-degree murder in the death of a 6-week-old infant boy.
The baby was identified as Gabriel Mambrere of Waipahu.
Police would not comment on the man’s release from custody, but the case is pending further investigation.
The baby was found unresponsive at a Waipahu home 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Paramedics took the baby in critical condition to the hospital, where he died.
Police seeking visitor last seen Thursday
Police are looking for Ivanice "Ivy" Harris, who is visiting from the mainland, after family and friends expressed concern for her safety.
Harris, 28, was last seen at 2:15 a.m. Thursday speaking with a male outside a bar in Waikiki. She has not been seen or heard from since then, police said Friday.
She is African-American, 5 feet 3 inches tall and 125 pounds. She was wearing a red-orange long-sleeve sweater and long blue denim pants.

Roommate is arrested in alleged assault
Police arrested a 22-year-old man who allegedly assaulted his 27-year-old roommate in Kaimuki.
Police said the younger man attacked the older man with "a dangerous instrument" at 2:26 a.m. April 24. The victim suffered "substantial bodily injury," police said.
After an investigation, police arrested the younger roommate Thursday morning on suspicion of second-degree assault. He was later released pending investigation.
