Teen chef cooks at Vintage Cave
Flynn McGarry, a 15-year-old culinary prodigy from Los Angeles, will join Vintage Cave executive chef Chris Kajioka and pastry chef Matt Tinder of Coi in San Francisco, to present a 10-course degustation event Friday and Saturday at the Vintage Cave.
The young chef has already worked with superstar chefs Grant Achatz and Maxime Bilet.
Cost is $295. Two seatings, at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., will be available.

Korean cuisine focus of dinner
Enjoy a meal of authentic Korean food during a pop-up dinner, "What Koreans Really Eat," 6:30 p.m. June 1 at Lemongrass Café at the Pacific Gateway Center.
Chef Walter Rhee will prepare Soon Dae (Korean blood sausage), Saeng Suhn Hweh Ssam (fresh raw fish wrap), Galbi Chim (braised beef short ribs), Ah Goo Chim (braised monkfish), Kong Namool Bibimbop (soy sprout bibimbap), Kong Namool Gook (soy sprout broth), Gogi Juhn (the "real" meat jun), Ojing Uh Juht (pickled calamari), Bool Dahk (spicy chicken), Yi Myun Soo Gui (broiled mackerel), homemade kim chee and Shik Hae (sweet Korean rice drink).

Culinary events abound at store
Williams-Sonoma at Ala Moana Center will offer a variety of events next month opening with an Artisan market, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 1.
Local vendors and their goods will include Paradise Meadows’ Kau coffee, macadamia nuts and Hawaii honey; Guava Smoked LLC’s pork, salmon belly, turkey tails and chicken legs; Staci Mae’s Sorbet; Aunty Nani’s Hawaiian Cookies and salad dressings; Mama ‘Nita Scones; and Aikane Plantation Coffee Co.

Plantation wins coffee award
Kona’s Mountain Thunder Coffee Plantation won a gold medal at the SIAL Gold Bean Cupping Contest earlier this month in Canada. SIAL is an international food-and-beverage trade show.
The organic coffee farm won the honor with its Cloud Forest Estate 100 percent Kona coffee, which has earned more than 15 awards. Visit mountainthunder.com.
