A Kauai grand jury indicted Steven Michael Wilson for second-degree murder in connection with the death of Kendra Lewis.

A Kauai grand jury indicted Steven Michael Wilson for second-degree murder in connection with the death of Kendra Lewis.

On Apr. 26, Lewis’ body was found in a two-bedroom condominium that she shared with Wilson at Kawaihau Sports Villa in Kapaa. Her uncle found her body covered by a blanket on the floor of her bedroom. A rolled-up towel had been wedged at the bottom of the door.

Wilson and Lewis dated for two years in Alaska where they were involved in drugs. Both moved to Kauai in December.

According to a court document, Wilson just “snapped” when he repeatedly stabbed Lewis with a hunting knife and attempted to kill himself.

Lewis, 21, was last seen on April 19 by her uncle and several friends at a dinner party in her apartment.

Her uncle said a friend of the couple told him they argued when Lewis told Wilson she had gotten an abortion after getting pregnant by someone else.

If convicted, Wilson, 26, faces a maximum sentence of life with the possibility of parole.
