Kauai County rescuers find missing woman after 2-day search

Kauai County rescue personnel today located a Lihue woman after a two-day search since Tuesday.

The woman was last seen about 12:30 p.m. near Ninini Beach, also known as Running Waters, north of Kalapaki Bay.

Police had been assisting her family with the search since Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday, the Fire Department helicopter searched while the U.S. Coast Guard participated in a sea-based search.

Police and fire personnel resumed the search this morning and officials were preparing to ask for the public’s assistance when word came in that the woman had been located.

The fire helicopter located the woman shortly before 3 p.m. in a remote location along the south end of the bay.

The woman suffered some lacerations but was reported to be in good health. She was airlifted to the shore and transported to Wilcox Hospital.
