P.J. Samiere and John Oda qualified for the U.S. Amateur Public Links by taking the top two spots in Saturday’s qualifier at Ala Wai Golf Course.
Samiere was the medalist after rounds of 66 and 68. His 134 total edged Oda and Tyler Ota by a stroke. Oda shot 69 and 66 and Ota shot 66 and 69.
With two qualifiers coming out of the one-day event, Oda and Ota went to a playoff to determine the second slot.
Oda chipped in for eagle on the first hole of the playoff to earn the spot.
Ota is the first alternate. Kyosuke Hara and Ryan Kuroiwa tied for the second alternate spot, two strokes back of Samiere, but Hara conceded the second-alternate spot to Kuroiwa.
The U.S. Amateur Public Links will be played at Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton, Va. on July 15-20.
