Honolulu fire rescue crews assisted distressed hikers in Palolo and Nuuanu on Sunday.
At 12:38 p.m. firefighters were called to the Kaau Crater Trail in Palolo to help a woman in her 50s who had injured her ankle and was unable to continue. The woman was airlifted to a landing zone at Palolo District Park.
At 2:20 p.m. firefighters assisted a woman, also in her 50s, who became lost while hiking along a trail near the Nuuanu reservoir. The crew located the woman and airlifted her to safety.
Punching out a glass window ends badly
A 36-year-old man allegedly punched the display window of a Waikiki store, injured himself when the glass shattered and then was arrested, police said.
Police said the man was taken to a hospital for treatment and arrested at about 10:40 p.m. on suspicion of second-degree criminal property damage.
Kalihi man catches couple taking his stuff
A 35-year-old Kalihi resident called police Saturday evening after he came home to find a man and woman in his driveway loading a truck with property that was allegedly taken from outside his home, police said.
Officers arrested a 33-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman on suspicion of second-degree theft, police said.
The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m.
