“Top Chef” semifinalist Sam Talbot will headline JDRF Hawaii’s 13th annual fundraiser, “An Evening of Hope … All for 1,” on June 29 at the Sheraton Waikiki.
The local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will feature Talbot, diagnosed at age 12 with juvenile diabetes, and the chefs of the Sheraton Waikiki in a fine-dining, wine and auction gala.
The event will run from 6 to 10 p.m. Individual tickets are $350. To purchase tickets or for table prices, call the organization at 988-1000.

Vote for favorite bake-off recipe
The public is invited to vote for sweets-and-starters semifinalist recipes in the 46th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest.
Thirty-four finalists will be part of the 100 home cooks from various categories to vie for the $1 million prize in November in Las Vegas.
Vote online through June 27 at www.bakeoff.com.
Breakfast recipes will be accepted starting July 4.
Video contest centers on wine
For the seventh year, Wine Spectator magazine is holding a wine-themed video contest. The top prize includes tickets to the Wine Spectator Wine Experience and passes to the Napa Valley Film Festival. The winning video will be screened at both events.
The video should be no more than three minutes, educational and entertaining. All participants must be 21 years or older.
On Sept. 9, finalists’ videos will be posted at winespectator.com, where the public can vote through Sept. 16.
