Alert security guards at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center prevented the theft of a woman’s handbag Monday afternoon, police said.
The security personnel witnessed two men taking a handbag belonging to a woman who had gone swimming at a beach near the shopping center. They detained both suspects and called police.
The handbag was recovered, and the suspects — an 18-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, neither of whom has a local address — were arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft.
Man arrested after attack on paramedic
A 33-year-old Maili man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly attacked a private paramedic at a copy center in Moiliili.
Police and paramedics responded to a report of an unconscious man in the South King Street copy center at 6:50 p.m. When the suspect was revived, he allegedly became combative and struck the paramedic in the face, causing minor injuries.
He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.
Women are accused of trafficking meth
Two Manoa Valley women are in custody on suspicion of meth trafficking.
Police said the two women listed the same Akaka Place address when they were booked Monday.
The first suspect, a 56-year-old woman, was arrested at 12:25 p.m. in Makiki on suspicion of first-degree meth trafficking and two counts of second-degree meth trafficking.
The second woman, 48, was arrested an hour later at the Akaka Place address on first-degree meth trafficking.
Suspect charged in assault of woman
Police charged a 20-year-old man with abuse after he allegedly struck a 22-year-old woman with a dangerous object Saturday.
Anthony Alina-Morales, who does not have a local address, was initially arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, but the case was reclassified as abuse of a family or household member when he was charged Sunday.
Alina-Morales’ bail was set at $2,000.
