Lawsuit naming Mayweather in Nev. shooting dropped
LAS VEGAS >> A lawsuit in Las Vegas accusing boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. of orchestrating a shooting in August 2009 has been dropped before trial.
Clark County District Court records show that attorneys for Quincey Williams and Damien Bland sought dismissal June 12 of the civil lawsuit filed in August 2011 against Mayweather and several other defendants including convicted shooter Ocie Harris.
A jury trial that had been set for July 1 was canceled.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported (http://bit.ly/19Zs5Ol ) that Mayweather was left to pay only his attorney fees.
Harris is serving two to five years in prison after pleading an equivalent of no contest to three felonies for shooting at Williams and Bland outside the Crystal Palace Skate Center.
Williams and Bland weren’t wounded, and Mayweather wasn’t charged in the case.
