Aloha Beer Co. has announced that it is now distributing its products in Japan and Guam and closing Beer Hall at 580 N. Nimitz Highway for extensive renovation so it can keep pace with increased demand.
Some of the "25 or so staff members … will remain on board as we will continue brewing and wholesale distributions," said spokeswoman Candice Sombrero.
"We are unsure how long the premises will be closed due to major renovations," she said.
The 6,000-square-foot brewery is adjacent to the now-closed Sam Choy’s Breakfast, Lunch & Crab and serves as the company’s headquarters.
"Our temporary closing of the beer hall will inconvenience many, but rest assured that our products are now available throughout the state," said Director of Business Development Kyle Sombrero in a statement.
Aloha Beer Co. launched a year ago and is now found in all major supermarkets and convenience stores as well as restaurants, clubs and hotels statewide, he said.
Japan distribution is being handled by Nippon Beer, among the country’s leading beer import and distribution companies, while distribution on Guam is handled by Mid Pacific Distributors, the island’s largest beer distributor.

Honolulu Beerworks will open a brewery and brewpub in Kakaako in the early fall, according to its Facebook page.
The company has repainted the facade of the green warehouse building at 328 Cooke St., with white figures in silhouette.
The roof overhang on the front says "brewing soon."
Owners Geoffrey and Charmayne Seideman posted May 4 that they had received approval from the Honolulu Liquor Commission and said, "time to start the build out."
The building is on the Ewa side of the street between Ala Moana Boulevard and Auahi Street and now features a redone glass-paneled roll-up door at the front of the building.
"We will be able to bring you all styles of beer as well as cask conditioned beers and a small barrel program as well," the owners posted.
They could not otherwise be reached, and the building was locked early Friday afternoon when TheBuzz attempted a friendly chat.
