Samiere earns spot in USGA Junior Amateur

P.J. Samiere of Kailua defeated Honolulu’s John Oda in a playoff at the USGA Junior Amateur qualifier at the Waikoloa Kings’ Course on Hawaii island on Saturday. Samiere and Oda both finished at 4-under 140 after 36 holes.

Samiere birdied the second hole of the playoff to claim a spot in the USGA Junior Amateur, to be held at The Martis Camp Golf Course in Truckee, Calif., July 22-27.

Oda is the first alternate and Kyle Suppa is the second alternate.
