Mokulele Airlines will begin offering service next week between Kona International Airport on Hawaii island and Kapalua Airport on Maui.
The interisland carrier, which flies nine-seat Cessna Grand Caravan turboprops, will become the only airline to operate regular service between the two cities.
Service will begin July 19 with an introductory rate of $59 one way for reservations made by Monday.
"Many passengers who are traveling to Maui are going to Kapalua, the Kaanapali resort area, Lahaina or other destinations on the west side of the island," Mokulele President and CEO Ron Hansen said Monday.
"Now, with our new Kona-Kapalua route, travelers who are visiting West Maui won’t have to make the drive to and from Kahului Airport, which can take 40 or more minutes each way."
Mokulele, purchased by Scottsdale, Ariz.-based TransPac Aviation Inc. in November 2011, offers up to 100 flights a day connecting Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui and Hawaii island.
The airline is operating with seven Caravans but is scheduled to have nine in its fleet by early August.
