Board of Water Supply crews completed repairs to a contractor-damaged water main on Farrington Highway near Makaha Beach Park tonight.

Water service was restored to affected customers as of 8:15 p.m.

BWS crews are now working to backfill the trench and repair the pavement. Crews will be working off the roadway and no lane closures are expected.

Contractors working in the area inadvertently damaged the pipe, A Board of Water Supply spokesman said. The contractors reported the main break at about 12:30 p.m.

About 137 customers from Kili Drive to Kaena Point were without water service.

Police initially closed all but one lane of the highway, which was contra-flowed.

All lanes were reopened by 2 p.m., however, the mauka lane of the highway will be closed again once crews begin excavation work.
