Besieged Liquor Commission official quits
Greg I. Nishioka has resigned as administrator of the Honolulu Liquor Commission.
The commission said Thursday it accepted Nishioka’s resignation effective Aug. 30.
In February, Nishioka resigned from practicing law and agreed to repay misappropriated money to clients, according to the Disciplinary Board of the state Supreme Court. He was an attorney before taking the commission job.
According to the board’s order, Nishioka admitted commingling and misappropriating client funds, failing to promptly render accurate accountings, failing to return client files and to provide refunds upon request, and engaging in deceitful conduct, resulting in 47 separate violations.
