Gov. Neil Abercrombie today signed the 2013 Hawaii Ocean Resources Management Plan, a five-year blueprint identifying 11 management priorities for conserving and sustaining Hawaii’s ocean and coastal resources.

The plan also sets goals for county, state and federal partners and the next five years and outlines benchmarks to measure progress.

“It is essential that governmental agencies at all levels work together to address Hawaii’s resource challenges,” Abercrombie said.

Priorities are based on community outreach conducted in all four counties through public meetings, oral and written submissions and social media, the governor’s office said.

The state Office of Information Management and Technology will be charged with tracking the success of the plan.
