‘Warrior’ collection takes bow at Modern Honolulu event
Designer Bejan Moers, a recent University of Hawaii graduate, will showcase his Warrior Designs "Warrior" collection during "Elements at The Modern Honolulu" Friday night.
Warrior Designs is inspired by the regalia of early indigenous cultures that relied on natural materials. The event opens at 7 p.m., with the fashion show at 8 p.m.
Tickets for the "Elements" show are $10 before Friday and $20 at the door. Limited VIP bottle service is $350 and covers up to six people per bottle.

Reyn’s Rack cuts prices on menswear tops, bottoms
Guys who don’t normally like to shop have a reason to head downtown this weekend. Reyn’s Rack is hosting a sale featuring Spooner Kloth shirts for $45, all other shirts for $35, sweaters for $15, all bottoms for $15 and T-shirts for $10.
The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The store is at 125 Merchant St.

Designers bring trunk shows to Big Isle’s Hualalai Resort
The summer break lures dozens of designers to our shores, and Seaside Luxe at Hualalai Resort on the Big Island continues to be a major destination for tropical-minded designers.
Here are a few of the trunk shows coming up. Hours are from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 6 p.m.
» Tuesday and Wednesday: Los Angeles-based jewelry designer Jemma Sands will show her handcrafted jewelry collection featuring natural gemstones and organic diamonds to evoke sea, sand, surf and love.
» Aug. 2-3: Sol de Mel Swim offers a perfect mix of functional Brazilian fits and modern European cuts. View the collection and meet the designer. Along with the suits will be a display of jewelry by Shylee Rose running the gamut from subtle diamonds and precious metals to the pop of neon macramés.
» Aug. 6-7: Model Liya Kebede founded Lemlem after discovering that traditional weavers in her native country of Ethiopia were losing their jobs due to a decline in demand for their goods. The line’s handwoven and hand-embroidered cotton clothing now inspires economic independence and preserves the art of weaving in Ethiopia.
» Aug. 10-11: Women’s caftans by Theodora & Callum will be on view, in eclectic prints and colors perfect for summer travels. Also featured will be scarves, jewelry, dresses, tops and pants.
» Also: The boutique will be the setting for a Sol Angeles Pop-up through Aug. 31. The company is known for its T-shirts and graphic designs, and for low-maintenance clothing that’s comfortable by day and easy to dress up in the evening by adding a jacket, vest or skirt.

Spa day offers massages, more
SpaHalekulani is offering a weekend of renewal with “The Art of Living Well,” Friday through Sunday. The three-day event features lectures with medical anthropologist Dr. Meg Jordan, demonstrations and activities, and a sampling of SpaHalekulani’s new services.
Events include Wake Up on the Beach, a stretching session; SpaHalekulani Blend Bar, in which guests can create a custom mixture of body creams and bath salts; and Mindful Meditation.
Demonstrations of massages will feature indigenous rituals from Japan and the South Pacific, including taurumi, a Tahitian massage.
Fee for the full event, including fruit smoothie, 50-minute SpaHalekulani treatment and one Blend Bar product, is $495.
A la carte class prices are $195 for Jordan’s keynote presentation on trends and research in health, wellness and fitness; $75 for a “Lunch as You Learn” session; and $25 for classes.
