Vernon Baker, the accused killer of Mary Beth San Juan, is seen in this Honolulu Police Department mugshot.

An Oahu grand jury indicted a 41-year-old man Thursday morning on a charge of murdering Mary Beth San Juan, whose body was found the night of July 23 bound and wrapped in a rug on her driveway off Punahou Street.

Vernon Baker, who was arrested Saturday at Ala Moana Center, is charged with murdering the 56-year-old real estate broker and aspiring actress. He is being held on $200,000 bail.

Baker was indicted on one count of second-degree murder, two counts of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and one count of drug paraphernalia.

The indictment sends the case to trial and pre-empts a preliminary hearing that was scheduled for Thursday.
