Matt Ma is defending his title in the Army Invitational, which begins today at Leilehua. The final round is Saturday.
Ma won by five shots over Cory Oride last year. He also won at Leilehua in 2005.
Oride is back this year, along with reigning Manoa Cup champion Jared Sawada, Alika Bell, Richard Hattori, David Saka, Nick Matsushima, SeungJae Maeng and former Army champs Brandan Kop and Christian Akau.
The Maui Open is Saturday and Sunday at Dunes at Maui Lani. Alex Chiarella is defending champion and Baldwin graduate Cassy Isagawa is in the field.

» This year’s Oahu Country Club Women’s Invitational is Aug. 19-20. There is a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start each day. Format is Stableford scoring. Entry fee is $185. For more information, contact head pro Andrew Feldmann (595-3256, ext. 2).
» Aug. 23 is the deadline to enter the 35th annual HSWGA Senior Women’s Championship. It will be Sept. 16 at Leilehua with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The tournament is open to women 50 and older (or who will turn 50 this year), who belong to HSWGA member clubs, and past champions.
» Registration is open for the 10th annual Women’s Fund Hawaii Golf Tournament, which has gone co-ed this year. It will be Oct. 21, at Mid-Pacific Country Club. Golfers can enter at womensfundhawaii.org. Cost is $200 or $750 for a four-person team.
