Richardson quits KITV for PR job at Shriners Hospital

KITV morning news anchor Mahea­lani Richardson will host her last newscast for the station Aug. 20 and will start a new job as director of public relations for Shriners Hospital.

“Mahea has been an integral part of this newsroom for more than 10 years,” said News Director Chuck Parker. “She will be missed.”

Richardson has worked at KITV for 11 years, primarily as morning news anchor. She covered the first inauguration of Hawaii-born President Barack Obama; was in Washington, D.C., to anchor the station’s coverage of funeral services for U.S. Sen. Daniel Ino­uye; and most recently anchored noon newscasts during Tropical Storm Flossie.
