3 hurt in moped crashes in Kaimuki, Waikiki and Waimanalo

Three people were seriously injured in separate moped accidents in Kaimuki, Waimanalo and Waikiki Friday night.

A 22-year-old man was seriously injured when the moped he was operating crashed into an “unknown stationary object” on 10th Avenue at about 8:25 p.m. according to an Emergency Medical Services report.

Paramedics took the man, who was not wearing a helmet, to a local trauma center in serious condition.

At about 9:09 p.m. paramedics took a 24-year-old woman to the hospital in serious condition after a reported moped accident near Bellows Air Force Station in Waimanalo.

A 50-year-old man was injured in another moped accident at about 9:40 p.m. near  the intersection of Ala Wai  Blvd. and Ainakea Way in Waikiki. Paramedics took him to the hospital  in serious condition.

The man was not wearing a helmet, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
