A passenger, who died earlier this week in a one-car accident in Mountain View, has been identified as Dino G. Capello by Hawaii County police.

Capello, 54, of Mountain View, was the passenger in an SUV driven by Patrick W. Agcalon, also of Mountain View, Big Island police said.

Police said the 1999 Honda CR-V sport-utility vehicle driven by Agcalon, 36, was traveling east on North Glenwood Road when it ran off the roadway and struck a utility pole and a tree around 3:45 p.m.

Big Island police have initiated a negligent homicide and coroner’s inquest investigation. An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death. 

Police believe that speed and alcohol were both factors in this crash.
