Made in Hawaii Festival adds new vendors, trolley service
The 19th annual Made in Hawaii Festival will be the largest in the event’s history, with more than 400 exhibitors, including nearly 100 new vendors, filling the Blaisdell Arena and Exhibition Hall, Friday through Sunday.
Also new this year is free Waikiki Trolley service between Waikiki and the festival. Waikiki-area residents and visitors will be able to board between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Pickup/drop-off points will be at Hilton Hawaiian Village (Kalia Road), the Duke Kahanamoku statue (Kalakaua Avenue), Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel, Ohana West and Neal Blaisdell Center. The three-day event also will feature its popular series of cooking demonstrations by some of Hawaii’s top culinary artists, plus a lineup of award-winning local musicians on the entertainment stage.

The annual showcase features food, health and beauty products, apparel and accessories, and gifts, books, artwork, crafts and other locally produced goods that support the island economy.
Among the new vendors:
>> 808 Shells (Maui): Island-style cases for iPhones, iPads and other mobile devices.
>> Blue Kalo (Big Island): This Hilo-based company serves up poi cookies and Hawaiian kalo and ulu chips.
>> Kupu A‘e (Molokai): Offering silk charmeuse batik scarves.
>> The Mermaid’s Mirror (Oahu): Artist Nadia Fairlamb creates one-of-a-kind mirrors with sculpted, tropical wood frames, shells, driftwood, crystals and other treasures.
>> Shaka Pops (Maui): Artisan popsicles celebrate Maui’s bounty with such flavors as Watermelon Mojito, Mango Habanero and Lavender Chocolate Flake.
>> Shinil Candle & Soap (Kauai): Natural bath and beauty products, from mango/papaya lip balm to facial clays, bath and body oils, and soaps.
>> Yellow Bird Bohemia (Oahu): Hand-painted caps by Laura Roth highlight Hawaii’s flora and fauna.
