Isle travel agency gets network invite
Seawind Tours & Travel Inc. marked its 25th anniversary in business Thursday with news that it has been invited to join the Virtuoso network of travel agencies.
Fewer than 1 percent of travel agencies in the U.S. are admitted for membership in the travel specialists’ network, Seawind said.
Seawind was founded Aug. 8, 1988, by Randy King and Kalena Yim.
"As we come upon this milestone in our company’s history, we would like to especially thank our many loyal clients who, throughout these past years and through our journeys together, have helped us create lifelong memories as well as treasured friendships," said King, president, in a statement.
Merriman’s to mark 25th anniversary
Merriman’s, the Waimea restaurant established in 1988 by Hawaii Regional Cuisine chef Peter Merriman, is preparing a weeklong celebration for its 25th anniversary in December.
The anniversary celebration week will begin Dec. 9 and will include a Dec. 14 event honoring Hawaii island farmers, ranchers and the community. As part of the event, $25,000 will be donated to five local charities.
Since establishing the first restaurant, Merriman has expanded with additional Merriman’s restaurants in Kapalua, Maui, and Poipu, Kauai, as well as Merriman’s Mediterranean Cafe in Waikoloa on Hawaii island; Merriman’s Gourmet Pizza & Burgers in Poipu; and Monkeypod Kitchen by Merriman in Wailea, Maui, and at Ko Olina on Oahu.
