Kaneshiro honors Secret Service agent for contributions to law enforcement

A U.S. Secret Service agent is being recognized for his contributions to law enforcement in Honolulu.

Honolulu Prosecuting Attorney Keith Kaneshiro presented Special Agent Travis Taylor with a commendation Tuesday.

Taylor was assigned to the Secret Service’s Honolulu field office in 2009. He is being transferred to Washington, D.C. where he will serve on protective detail for the president and vice president.

Kaneshiro says Taylor distinguished himself as an investigator of identity theft and financial fraud.

He’s credited with helping make possible the arrests and prosecution in two high-profile cases. One case involved three men from California who installed credit card skimming devices at gas stations. The other case involved a five-person ring that made more than $325,000 in fraudulent credit card transactions at high-end Waikiki stores.
