Dine out and help Meals on Wheels
It’s nearly time to round up dining partners for the fifth annual "The Good Table," a fundraiser 6 p.m. Oct. 3 for Lanakila Meals on Wheels taking place at more than 50 restaurants across Oahu.
Some eateries have already sold out during special presales; those remaining include a range of venues, from Roy’s and the Pineapple Room to Hank’s Haute Dogs, Pah Ke’s, Haili’s Hawaiian Foods and Zippy’s.
Tables go on sale Aug. 30; book by Sept. 15 to be entered to win dining and travel prizes. For list of restaurants, prices and seatings visit www.thegoodtable.org.
Benefit aids medical school outreach
Support the John A. Burns School of Medicine in its partnership with the Homeless Outreach Medical Education project at the "A Taste of HOME" annual food and wine benefit. The event runs 5:30 to 9 p.m. Aug. 31.
Ed Kenney of town and Sean Priester of Lil’ Soul Café will cook alongside chefs from Tanioka’s with support from Kapiolani Community College culinary students. Nathan Iha of Tanioka’s will oversee wine.
The HOME project provides medical students with community-health work experience.

GMO talks hit west Oahu
Hear about the issues of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) from the perspectives of Seeds of Truth and Hawaii Organic Farming Association at two free panel discussions next week.
