Camacho youngest to swim Kaiwi
Leahi Camacho, a 17-year-old senior at Kealakehe High School, became the youngest to swim the Kaiwi Channel when she successfully made the 26-mile crossing Sunday.
Camacho took 14 hours and 43 minutes — the ninth-fastest time on record — to swim from Laau Point on Molokai to Oahu’s Sandy Beach. She battled 20-mph winds, 6- to 7-foot swells and Portuguese man-o-war stings to become the 27th person to finish the swim.
