Recent Castle High School graduate and avid skateboarder Alan Michael Danielson will be remembered at a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bellows Beach Park.
Danielson, 18, died Tuesday after losing control of his skateboard while being pulled by a car on Apapane Street in Kaneohe.
The accident, the latest in a string of skateboard-related injuries and fatalities on Oahu, has intensified calls for mandatory helmet use for skateboarders.
Danielson had planned to attend Windward Community College and the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
He is survived by father Michael, mother Dawn, sisters Sam and Jade, and grandparents Don Skaza and Jack and Mary L. Danielson.
Beach attire is requested for the memorial service. Flowers are welcome. Online condolences may be left at www.borthwickoahu.com.
