The medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy on a 85-year-old Honolulu man who had to be pulled out of waters off Magic Island Monday and taken to the hospital where he died.

The victim was identified as Victor Decarlo.

Emergency Medical Services said the man was swimming when he went underwater.

Ocean Safety officials pulled the man out of the water at 2:45 p.m. and administered CPR before paramedics transported him in critical condition to the hospital where he died at 5:10 p.m.
