Baxter edges Lenny in Chicago SUP event

Maui’s Connor Baxter beat out Valley Island rival Kai Lenny in two races this weekend in Chicago, claiming the overall event title at the Stand Up World Series stop on Lake Michigan.

Both the sprint and long-distance races came down to a strong finish by Baxter, including Sunday’s challenging lake conditions where he broke away from Lenny after turning on the buoy of the second and final lap of the distance race.

Baxter’s Starboard team and Lenny’s Team Naish remain 1-2 on the standings heading into the Labor Day weekend stop in San Francisco.
