Man who died at Seven Sacred Pools is identified
HALEAKALA NATIONAL PARK >> Authorities say a 38-year-old California man has died after he ended up submerged in a pool in Haleakala National Park.
Maui County police say firefighters pulled Rajeesh Padmanabhan from the Seven Sacred Pools, a popular hiking site in Kipahulu, on Friday afternoon.
Lt. William Juan says Padmanabhan was found to be unresponsive and emergency responders attempted CPR.
He was declared dead a short time later.
Padmanabhan was visiting from San Ramon, Calif.
Police, paramedics and firefighters also responded to a near-drowning off Kaanapali Saturday afternoon.

Police said an unresponsive man was pulled out of the water near Kekaa Landing Pier at about 6:30 p.m.
Rescue workers continued CPR and took the victim to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition.
