Storms cause flash flooding in Las Vegas area
LAS VEGAS >> Officials say heavy rains caused flash flooding that stranded some residents and drivers, while damaging homes in the Las Vegas area.
The high waters in the Spring Mountains affected the Mount Charleston and Kyle Canyon Road areas.
Fire officials say Clark County, Las Vegas and Mount Charleston fire departments responded to Kyle Canyon to assist people in areas threatened by flooding.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1e5taVx) that Clark County fire officials said there was storm and flood damage to numerous homes in Rainbow Canyon.
The paper says Las Vegas police reported that 30 residents were escorted down the canyon from their homes because of the floodwaters.
Fire officials also said they had reports of stranded drivers while flash flood warnings and watches were in effect for southern parts of Nevada and Utah Sunday.
