Three former University of Hawaii players were among five players with Hawaii ties cut by their NFL teams Saturday.

Receiver Greg Salas was released by the Philadelphia Eagles, running back Alex Green was cut by the Green Bay Packers, and rookie free-agent cornerback Mike Edwards was dropped by the New York Jets on the day NFL teams were required to get their rosters down to 53 players.

Two players who played high school football in Hawaii also were cut Saturday: safety Brandon Hardin (Kamehameha) by the Chicago Bears and linebacker JoJoDickson (Baldwin) by the Jets.

The moves leave only four former Warriors on NFL rosters as the season prepares to kick off in four days:

» Receiver Davone Bess, who will play his first season with the Cleveland Browns

» Samson Satele, a Kailua alum who plays center for the Indianapolis Colts

» Mana Silva, a Kamehameha-Hawaii graduate who plays safety for the Buffalo Bills but who is on their reserve-left team list

» Isaac Sopoaga, a defensive tackle in his first season with the Eagles

Eight other Hawaii players with Hawaii ties made the cut Saturday:

» Rookie free agent linebacker John Lotulelei (Baldwin) with the Seattle Seahawks

» Linebacker Kaluka Maiava (Baldwin), who is new to the Oakland Raiders

» Defensive end Daniel Te’o-Nesheim (Hawaii Prep) with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

» Rookie linebacker Manti Te’o (Punahou) with the San Diego Chargers

» Defensive tackle Tyson Alualu (Saint Louis) of the Jacksonville Jaguars

» Guard Shawn Lauvao (Farrington) of the Browns

» Center Max Unger (Hawaii Prep) of the Seahawks

» Center Dominic Raiola (Saint Louis) of the Detroit Lions
