Motorist run over by her truck is identified
The medical examiner’s office has identified the 46-year-old Ahuimanu woman who was killed while retrieving items from her pickup truck as Katinia Mikaele.
The victim had parked her Toyota Tundra on a steep driveway at 47-706 Halemanu St. to unlock the gate in front of her home. Police said the woman was unloading items from the bed of the truck when the vehicle slipped out of gear and ran over her. The truck continued to roll and struck another home at 47-704 Halemanu St. near Valley of the Temples Memorial Park.
The victim was taken by ambulance in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center, where she died.
The accident occurred at 2 p.m. and is the fifth nontraffic fatality involving a vehicle this year.
Suspect sought in reported sex assault
CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public’s help finding a man wanted in connection with a reported sexual assault.
The victim was asleep at her residence on University Avenue Thursday morning when she was awakened about 3:55 a.m. by an unknown male who entered through a screen door. The male sexually assaulted the victim and fled when she called police.
A news release issued by CrimeStoppers describes the suspect as a bald African-American man in his 30s, standing about 5 feet 8 inches and weighing 180 pounds. The suspect was wearing blue shorts.

Woman dies after being pulled from ocean
A Lihue woman pronounced dead after she was pulled from waters off Kalapaki Bay Wednesday has been identified as Karen Lardizabal, 67.
Police said a man found the woman while swimming in the bay about 6:30 p.m. The man, a medical doctor, brought her to shore and performed CPR until medics arrived.
Lardizabal was taken to Wilcox Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. According to police, an autopsy was performed Thursday, but the results are pending.

Man accused of threatening police officers
Hawaii island police charged a 40-year-old Puna man with terroristic threatening Wednesday for allegedly pointing what looked like a rifle at police officers investigating a domestic dispute involving the man and his 24-year-old son.
Police charged Jonathan P. Rodrigues Sr. of Mountain View with two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening. He was arrested Tuesday. Bail was set at $20,000. Police recovered an air rifle after his arrest.
Rodrigues was also arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault in connection with the father-son fight, but was released pending further investigation.
On Monday, officers responded to reports of a fight between the father and son. When officers arrived, the son ran into the forest, and emerged at 11 p.m. with substantial bodily injuries.
The son was arrested on two unrelated bench warrants for contempt of court.
Spearfisherman drowns off South Kona
A 27-year-old spearfisherman apparently drowned Wednesday afternoon in waters off Pebble Beach in the Kona Paradise Subdivision in South Kona.
About 4 p.m., a witness saw the man diving into the water but did not see him resurface. The witness called 911.
Hawaii County fire rescue personnel retrieved the body from the ocean after the Fire Department helicopter found it. The body was 150 yards offshore and in 20 to 30 feet of water.
The body was turned over to paramedics, who determined the man was dead.
