UH football coach suspended by MWC
University of Hawaii football coach Chris Demarest was suspended today for one game by the Mountain West Conference for breaking a sportsmanship rule during Saturday’s game at Oregon State.
The suspension will keep the UH assistant off the sidelines in Hawaii’s next football game at Nevada on Sept. 21. The conference office said Demarest broke Mountain West Sportsmanship Rule 4.4.3, for his inappropriate actions on the sideline during the nonconference game.
The Mountain West said it will have no further comment regarding this case.
UH head coach Norm Chow issued this statement: "Chris is a tremendous football coach who coaches with passion and energy. This is an extremely unfortunate situation and obviously we will abide with the penalty handed down by the Mountain West."
