Man robs Lahaina bank without saying a word

Maui police are looking for a man who robbed the Territorial Savings Bank in Lahaina Thursday morning.

Police said the man walked up to a teller about 10:30 a.m. without saying a word and then left.

The same man returned about 20 minutes later and allegedly placed a note on the counter, police said.

The teller got out an undisclosed amount of cash and placed it on the counter, police said.

The man grabbed the money and the note and walked out of the bank and headed toward Papalaua Street.

Lahaina police canvassed the area, but could not fund the man.

The man is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, being in his early 20s, wearing a blue hat, black shirt, black and purple shorts and sunglasses, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police dispatch at 244-6400.

Detective Garrett Tihada is the lead investigator.
