Laumaka escapee back behind bars
A 29 year-old Oahu Community Correctional Center escapee from a work furlough program was recaptured Monday night and returned to the Kalihi prison.
Ernest Vierra, who was serving time for second-degree robbery and car theft, was reported missing after a Friday morning head count at the Laumaka Work Furlough Center.
Vierra had held a community custody status –the lowest level of incarceration.
He now faces an additional charge of second-degree escape.
Deputy sheriffs on the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force Fugitive Team worked various leads that eventually led to Vierra’s arrest in Kapolei. Sheriff’s returned him to OCCC at 8:30 p.m
