The left and center Ewa-bound, or westbound lanes of Nimitz Highway will be closed between Alakea and Bishop streets beginning at 8 p.m. Monday night to allow for city repair work.

The city Board of Water Supply is repairing a six-inch waterline that feeds into a fire hydrant on Nimitz between Alakea and Bishop.

The waterline break was reported Sunday evening and the work is expected to continue overnight and into morning, BWS officials said.

If work is not done by morning rush hour, the crew will secure the road with iron plates and reschedule the work for non-peak hours so that the impact to the community is minimalized, BWS officials said.

Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes.
