Suspected teen phone thief turns self in to police after being exposed

The boy who allegedly stole an iPhone last month and then used it to take a photo of himself turned himself in to police Wednesday night.

The 16-year-old suspect didn’t realize that the photo was automatically uploaded to the victim’s computer.

The theft occurred Sept. 22 at 12:50 a.m.

The suspect allegedly grabbed the victim’s backpack and iPhone before fleeing. The suspect later used the victim’s phone and took pictures of himself, which uploaded to the victim’s computer.

An earlier version of this story contained the suspect’s photo before it was know that he was a juvenile.
